The question is can India supply all the parts for Tesla cars? Finally these parts have to be imported from China or THE US, however India's import tariffs are known to be very high, and the cars that end up being produced, no one can afford them.
India has plenty of land and labor, as well as a vast market, what they lack is western capital and technology, as long as American auto manufacturers are willing to shift their industrial chain to India, I believe India will become an important global auto production base.
Will they be able to supply musk's factory with everything they need without toilets?
This is a misunderstanding, cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, we have very good infrastructure and Indian economy is fast catching up with China. As long as the West is willing to invest, we can do better than China because we are an English speaking country and have a democracy similar to the West.
India is still far away from China in terms of infrastructure, education, administrative efficiency.
Americans are putting so many tariffs on Chinese goods, but apparently they are not moving manufacturing to India, they would rather go to Vietnam than India, which shows how bad India is!
Developing electric vehicles requires a complete industrial chain and a broad market. China, the US and Europe all have these conditions, but India does not. I don't think Indians can afford electric cars starting at $40,000.
There are 1.3 billion people in India and even if only 0.01% of them are rich, there are more rich people in India than in the UK.
@Lena This part of India you are talking about, most of them will choose to emigrate and live in USA or UK.
Many people have misconceptions about India. India's economy is only about 10 years behind China's and China is about to lose its labor advantage and India will be the fastest growing economy in the world in the next 40 years.
India has a complete industrial system, whether it is heavy industry or space exploration technology, and we have no conflict of interest with the West, which China does not have.
@Malama s88:China's economy is 6 times bigger than India's and the population difference is less than 50 million. I don't think you will be where China is now in 10 years, even though you already have more people there than China.
@Malama s88 中国经济是印度的6倍，人口相差不到5千万，我不认为你们10年后能到达中国目前的水平，尽管那时你们的人口已经超过中国。
It is easy to understand why Mr Musk has so far chosen to build only in China and Germany over India. It's the same reason why GM didn't invest in Africa.
These bureaucrats in India can do nothing but brag to the people..
India has made great progress in the last 20 years, especially after Modi came to power and developed the infrastructure, there is no doubt that India has mastered the secret of China's development.
People should not look down on India in the same way they looked down on China in the past. The World Bank predicts that India's economy will surpass that of the US by 2050, based on its young workforce, excellent university students, and improving business environment, so let's be patient, it's only a matter of time before Tesla invests in India.
I doubt India will surpass US. China may be possible, but India ？？？？
This is not impossible, 20 years ago, the British people's impression of China, is still only cycling.
India's population is growing and will soon even surpass China's, but at the same time China and India's GDP is growing. China is politically antagonistic to the West, but economically China is still the first choice for investment by big us and European companies.
