It's clear that Bhutan is under threat from China and if India does not provide support Bhutan will lose a large area of land.
After Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal betrayed India, now even Bhutan is embracing China while Modi is boasting about how strong India is all over the country.
Bhutan is India's friendliest neighbour and they will not go against India and choose China.
India's relations with its neighbours have deteriorated since Modi came to power, giving China an advantage and Nepal, with China's support, has even been going against India in a way that was unimaginable in the past.
India should immediately provide military support to Bhutan and deploy several mountain divisions on both sides of their border to deter China from further moves.
Bhutan is a sovereign country and we have to respect the will of that country.
Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bhutan have maintained friendly relations with India in the past because they need India's assistance. However, as China's economy continues to grow stronger, these countries are more willing to get assistance from China, and China has cleverly invested a lot in Nepal during the border dispute between India and Nepal. These countries will not be willing to side with India after benefiting from the benefits.
India is rising fast and we have a powerful military second only to the US. I think It is in India's interest for India to get involved in the border negotiations between the two countries.
@Yash Mike:India is just a poor country with a large population. Don't be brainwashed by Modi's bluffing slogans.
As long as India cuts off supplies, Bhutan will face food crisis in less than a week. I don't believe they will ignore India's interests. All Modi needs is one phone call and negotiations will end in a dead end.
@Dk :This is not Bollywood. Diplomacy is not a game. If India does this, it will effectively push Bhutan into the arms of China.
It should not just be a bilateral meeting, but a three-way meeting, otherwise the final outcome of the negotiation will not be valid.
China and Bhutan announcing border talks at this time is a slap in the face of Modi's diplomacy, look at our neighborhood now, there are no friends left.
India as a superpower does not need too many friends, nor does the US ever consider what mexicans or Canadians think, what we have to do is to act on our own will and give necessary warnings and reminders to our neighbours.
Super power? Now even Nepal doesn't take India seriously.
We must be ready to intervene at any time.
