“I wear a mask when needed… I don’t wear masks like him. Every time you see him, he’s got a mask. He could be speaking 200 feet away and he shows up with the biggest mask I’ve ever seen.”
Trump, at the debate day before yesterday
Trump was the one with the virus. He should have been the one wearing it so that others don't catch it
Now I'm starting to wonder if Trump tested positive before the debate, knew it, and chose not to wear one seeing a chance to infect Biden.
Yes it sounds stupid but stupid is normal now.
Interesting how the thought that "the current US president intentionally tried to personally infect his political opponent with a deadly virus" isn't a deep conspiracy but potential reality
2020 is a meme
Actually.. remember Melinda and the rest of Trumps family werent wearing masks while sitting in the croud at the debate. I wonder how many ppl they infected there?
Was there a crowd at the debate? Why? Most countries won't even let crowds watch outdoor sports yet, why is the USA having their presidential debate with an audience?
BC we are idiots who apparently care more about watching live events in person than protecting ourselves and everybody around us.
Wish I could add an /s but all the evidence I’ve seen this year...makes me believe this to be unfortunately very true.
Probably knew the night of the debate but did it anyway to expose Biden to it. It would not surprise me in the least.
The First Lady having it I do find kind of odd since she does seem to stay as far away from him as she can. But she was next to him during the debate.
Can't wait for Pence vs Harris for the 2020 election

I wouldn’t worry just yet.
Until this is verified by a doctor, there is no reason at all to take Trump’s word on this topic of all things after all he has done to politicize the virus.
That this is being announced solely on Twitter makes little sense and makes it even more suspect but...we’ll see if he’ll allow anyone to verify it.
The president’s physician has just verified that they tested positive.
This is the same man who apparently said he was the one who told Trump to take his untested covid drug (which he almost certainly was never actually taking given its sole effectiveness in certain emergency covid infections) earlier this year so....his credibility is suspect in that it seems that Trump possibly used him as a scapegoat and pressured him to take responsibility for his own controversial comments about the drug...just as he had used his prior doctor to write the “healthiest man I’ve ever seen” note, as was later admitted apparently he never did admit to doing it at Trump’s request...but it goes to show just how open to pressure the position is when the last physician said Trump was so healthy “he could live to age 200”...something obviously thought up by Trump himself. That same physician, Ronny Jackson, withdrew from his nomination as VA Secretary when an investigation into that statement was looming prior to his confirmation.
So I suppose that Trump could be doing the same thing here, carrying on the pattern of saying a thing, then getting someone else to confirm it later. Of all the people he could use to lend credence to a lie like this, the physician is clearly the easiest and most effective. I guess we’ll never really know, so there’s nothing to do for now but accept it.
Maybe divert attention from poor debate performance and create a sense of urgency in his domestic terrorist demographic?
I don't think we have to be sad that he has it. If he has it, I'm mainly worried about the consequences for US democracy and the people around him. It could throw this election year into even more turmoil. I'm worried about more Kyle Rittenhouses thinking this is a deep state conspiracy. The fallout would not mainly be on him. And he'll get the best care possible.
Jesus, I'm not usually one to buy into conspiracies but this would make perfect sense. It could be totally fake, and a way for him to just hide out for a bit after he humiliated himself the other night, and a way for him to prove the virus isn't so bad by pretending to be asymptomatic. Fake or real, this guy's unbelievable. Hope he really has it and it makes him feel a bit of the pain he's caused others
His doctor has confirmed he tested positive, haven't said whether he's symptomatic or not though.
I seriously doubt he's faking it but if he were to now would absolutely not be too late. Here's a few ways a faked positive test could be used:
It would give him an easy excuse to not have the next debate (e.g. He can insist it be in person then make hay of the Biden campaign refusing to agree to that ).
it could be used to fuel xenophobia if they drop some other "evidence" that China is the reason things are going poorly in the US
he could re-emerge fine and use that as further "proof" that the media/democrats are over hyping covid to win the election
For sure the last option there. It seems pretty obvious that he’s going to come back with some “strong like ox” esque comments and say he handled it much better than sleepy joe.
But that’s only if he actually comes through unscathed.
Famous last words
I honestly hope so, because it would be an extremely poignant lesson on how to respond to (or not respond to) a disease outbreak. It may due some good in the future, because even an idiot could understand the simple cause-and-effect.
if he dies they will make a nursery rhyme about his legacy for all future generations to learn from.
That's more appropriate to his reading level.
He won't die. Unlike the rest of us, he caught it early cause they get tested daily. He has good Healthcare, he got the virus later- when we know more about it and how to better deal with it, and someone who golfs as much as he does is not vitamin D deficient. Then, once they recover, he will use his experience as 'proof' that its not a big deal and push to reopen places that increase the risk of getting it, conveniently forgetting that the majority of Americans don't have access to great health insurance or the ability to catch it early. People will buy into it, and then after the election will see a giant spike because we would have opened too early. More deaths.
That's what I'm afraid. Meanwhile Biden dies, and it'll be proof he wasn't "tough enough" to rule.
If Biden dies, I don't think what Trump says about him posthumously is going to be your biggest concern
I like the thought of that. Let's put him in the history books.
This one's even better.
Interviewer: "A thousand Americans are dying [from COVID] a day!"
Trump: "They are dying, that's true. It is what it is."
Horribly cynical comment: if he was faking it, he has shifted the narrative away from the white supremacist issue and commanded 24 hr coverage for the next 2 weeks. He could emerge ok and claim he was right and the virus is no big deal. Or credit hydroxychloroquine for his recovery.
I hate that this is a real possibility.
Trump - "Damn I really wanted to go to those next debates, but guess I can't now, Im so upset"
Not quickly enough, unfortunately, that his carelessness caught up with him sooner and we could have saved who fucking knows how many preventable deaths. Infuriating.
Has anyone pointed out to him that if he had refused the test, he'd be one fewer case?
He is in several high-risk groups — elderly, obese, low-income.
A healthy fucking chuckle
That joke alone made up for March.
But we still got 9 other months to balance out.
I’m worried he will get a mild case and use it as an excuse to play it down even more.
at the very least his supporters are forced to acknowledge its real, and it gets trump off the campaign trail. although being off the trail would probably help him at this point. obviously theres quite a bit of conjecture/tin foil in this thread about that. personally i really couldnt say, 2020 is just too weird
nah. If Trump makes a fast recovery he can claim it's all a liberal hoax and his supporters will eat it up. Any of his base that would have stayed home are then more likely to go to the polls to vote for him.
